i put a lot of myself into my work. in a way my paintings are often like a diary. sometimes when i paint two women, they represent the duality of two personalities that are within myself .  other times they represent a sense of sisterhood. 

this painting came to life while having brandi carlile's song "that wasn't me" going through my head over and over and contemplating a recent event in my life.

the song in her head

she was a poet with so much to say

but found the only way to get it out was to paint

the canvas called out to her saying

paint your words on me

so she picked up her brush and told everyone about the song in her head

some people liked her song and  others blushed

it didn't matter

poetry is a song

a painting

a way of life

the poet can't help but bring feelings to those who are numb

it brings thoughts that disturb

inspire

and sometimes thoughts that hurt a little

after she listened to the song and sang along

she could be at peace
